BBC Live Lesson Trip

To help our Year 8 students have a better understanding of the 100 year anniversary of the battle of the Somme, History teacher Mr Cook organised for his class to take part in a live lesson at the BBC.

During this live lesson the students took part in 3 activities based around the battle. The first task required translating parts of Wilfred Owens poem “Dulce et Decorum est” into modern language. This before they went on to a second task of contributing words and phrases to a "live poem" that was created by award winning poet Paul Farley.

The most intriguing part of the lesson was taking part in a live satellite link to BBC history presenter Dan Snow, who was based in France. The students were given the opportunity to ask him questions regarding the battle with MCA student Josh Green's question read out live on air.
