On Wednesday 10th October 15 students from Year 11 participated in the Manchester Literature Festival in partnership with Read Manchester and The Writing Squad. The presentation was a culmination of several writing workshops in which students were asked to write on the theme of escapism through reading. They performed with confidence and all audience members, including other schools, commented on their confidence, vocabulary and wonderful ideas.
The Manchester Mayor was also in attendance, launching Read Manchester’s ‘TakeTen’ initiative, which encourages young people to read for 10 minutes a day in order to combat mental health issues and promote wellbeing though reading. They were very impressed to hear that Manchester Communication already surpasses this by reading for 15 minutes a day!
