MCA 2019 Y11 Awards Night

Updated: Apr 26, 2021

On Thursday 28th November the achievements of The MCA Class of 2019 were celebrated at our annual 'Year 11 Awards Evening'. The event is an opportunity to look back fondly over the past 5 years and present awards to students who had excelled in their progress or attainment.

Executive Principal Mr Rowlands opened the evening by welcoming the large number of students and families, offering congratulations but also some words of advice and encouragement for students as they embark on the next phase of their young lives. The audience was then treated to an exceptional musical performance by a current Year 9 MCA student before our Guest Speaker Paul Lake was introduced. We were delighted when the former Manchester City and England Football International accepted our invitation. Paul has been a magnificent ambassador for the club and has worked with young people since injury cut short his promising career. He gave a powerful motivational speech to our students about making the most from their talents and ensuring that they leave no stone unturned in terms of their effort and application in the pursuit of achieving their aspirations.

All students were then introduced to the stage to receive their 'MCA Scroll of Honour', handed to them individually by Paul. After another outstanding and moving musical performance by a current Year 10 student, we moved to our 'subject awards'. An 'attainment' and 'endeavour' award was given in every subject area, presented by Mr Rowlands. Finally, our 'excellence' awards were given for 'Overall Attainment', 'Overall Endeavour' and the Sponsors Award for demonstrating the 'MCA Values'. A final message of congratulations, good luck and 'keep in touch' was offered by careers lead Mr Roberts and another memorable event was brought to a close. Following the event Mr Rowlands said 'The Class of 2019 were a pleasure to teach, nurture and work with. They are a credit to themselves and their families and all the staff at MCA are extremely proud of them all'

Many thanks to Mr Eyre and all of the staff who helped to make it a successful night.  Our final thank you must go to the many sponsors who ensured all event costs including awards were covered. Thank you to Cresta Cars, Planisware Ltd, Sharp Futures, Northern Pest Management, Master Moves Ltd, Resource Solutions, Retox Aesthetics, The Create Education Project, The Crystal Hive, Connell Co-Op College, and Pendleton Sixth Form College.  Best wishes Class of 2019
