Gifted and talented Year 9 students recently visited the University of Central Lancashire in Preston to take part in a Forensic Science workshop. Using a range of scientific techniques, pupils were tasked with solving a ‘murder’!
Using a light microscope they were shown how to analyse samples of hair from the crime scene and they used a method called gel electrophoresis in order to analyse a sample of DNA from the murder weapon. The students successfully identified the 'murderer' and had a very enjoyable and educational day out.
